Lab Rotation Projects

Dr. Wang is a PhD thesis advisor to students in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, and Genetics and Developmental Biology areas of concentrations. The lab currently has the following potential projects for lab rotation students:

  1. Isolate and/or analyze mutants of C. elegans to identify novel proteins critical to channel function in vivo.
  2. Isolate and/or analyze mutants of C. elegans to identify novel proteins regulating synaptic transmission.
  3. Analyze  biophysical properties and regulation of gap junctions or potassium channels by expressing them in Xenopus oocytes and performing electrophysiological recordings.

The lab provides an excellent training environment for graduate students. Diverse techniques, including electrophysiological, genetic, optogenetic, and cell biological techniques, are used. Students have ample opportunities to interact with knowledgeable lab members.
